Offers peace of mind to travelers. When our members suffer medical emergencies while traveling more than 100 air miles from home, our solution returns them to their local hospital and medical care providers. Many plans sold as "emergency travel" insurance merely provide transport to the closest "appropriate" hospital. The closest "appropriate" hospital can be thousands of miles from home! Travelers who suffer serious medical problems can be left stranded by the very "emergency travel" insurance they relied upon for protection. In many cases, the "appropriate" hospital is outside of the country covered by the traveler's medical insurance.
What geographic area does SkyMed cover?
Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, Bahamas, Caribbean, and the U.S.A, including Alaska and Hawaii.
Does SkyMed own it's own aircraft?
No, it is impractical when serving its membership across the North American hemisphere. SkyMed has over 14 years developed professional working relationships with the finest air ambulance carriers serving the membership area. The aircraft must meet FAA qualifications. A medical crew, certified for flight with the repatriated member's health condition, will be on board.
MedjetAssist provides much-needed answers to these questions in a manner unlike other protection programs and typical insurance policies. As a MedjetAssist member, if you encounter injury or illness more than 150 miles from home, and require inpatient hospital care, you will be transported at your discretion to the hospital of your choice by a MedjetAssist authorized affiliate. There are no health questions, deductibles, co-payments or claim forms involvedthe membership fee is the only cost for these services. Without MedjetAssist membership protection, domestic evacuations average $20,000 while international transports often exceed $100,000.
